From July 6 to 10, the Roman theater of Mérida travels to ancient Greece with a stage proposal by Christina Rosenvinge, Marta Pazos and María Folguera from SAFO, a scenic, musical and visual poem that explores the figure of the great poetess of Lesbos.
After this, it will have performances from July 14 to 24 at the Teatre Romea.
Sappho, enigmatic and mysterious, is a revered and respected author to date, who composed more than ten thousand verses, of which, however, few complete poems and single verses have come down to us. In contrast to the clamorous absence of his work, his legendary figure has only grown over time.
