Next Monday, July 22, the Teatre Romea will host the proclamation and delivery of the 50th Margarida Xirgu Memorial Theater Award, which recognizes the best actress of the Barcelona theater season. This year Àgata Roca will receive this recognition for her role in the play L’imperatiu categòric, written and directed by Victoria Szpunberg, who will perform the traditional gloss of the actress at the gala hosted by Elisenda Pineda and which will also serve as the central act of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Margarida Xirgu Memorial Theater Award.
As is tradition, during the award ceremony, the award-winning actress receives the Anell Xirgu from the previous year’s winner. On this occasion, Mont Plans will deliver the ring to Àgata Roca.
Currently, the award is promoted by Núvol, the FGTAC, the Molins de Rei City Council and the Fundació Romea, which annually leases the Teatre Romea- where Margarida Xirgu made her professional debut in 1906 with the play Mar i Cel by Àngel Guimerà – to carry out the ceremony of proclamation and delivery of the award.
