Lapònia, one of the most successful Catalan plays, is still running at the Teatre Condal.
Written by Cristina Clemente and Marc Angelet, and precisely directed by Nelson Valente, Lapònia features a stellar cast including Míriam Iscla, David Bagés, Anna Sahun, and Albert Prat. Through a sharp and agile script, the play invites audiences to reflect on the values we pass on to children and the small — or big — lies we tell to protect what we hold dear.
On Christmas Eve, two families gather in Finnish Lapland. What should be a peaceful reunion turns into a cultural and emotional clash when a child finds out that maybe… Santa Claus doesn’t exist. From that point on, a hilarious debate unfolds about truth, lies, parenting differences, and the tensions between parents, in-laws, and siblings.
With over 300,000 spectators since its premiere in 2018, Lapònia has had more than twenty different productions and is currently being performed in seven different countries.
