Teatre Romea has premiered Mort d’un comediant, the new play by Guillem Clua, directed by Josep Maria Mestres and starring Jordi Bosch, Mercè Pons, and Francesc Marginet.
The play explores the relationship between Llorenç Cardona, one of the most respected and beloved actors in Catalonia, and Adri, his young caregiver. As they live together, Llorenç takes on all kinds of mythical characters while forming an increasingly close bond with Adri, who eventually uncovers the true reason why the aging actor has sought refuge in theatrical fiction—to escape a reality he is unable to face.
This is the latest collaboration between Clua and Mestres following the success of L’oreneta, which was previously staged at La Villarroel. The playwright has described the new work as “a love letter to the theatre.”
