The Teatre Romea has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Academia de las Artes Escénicas de España, a prize that recognizes initiatives striving for excellence and dignity in all performing arts professions.
The awards ceremony took place on Monday, January 13, at the Teatro Calderón in Valladolid, after the institution decided to postpone it last November in solidarity with those affected by the DANA tragedy.
Alongside the Teatre Romea in Barcelona, the award was also given to the Teatro Palacio Valdés in Avilés, the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank in Málaga, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Andalusian company La Zaranda, and the Ibero-American Festival of the Golden Age of the Community of Madrid, Clásicos en Alcalá.
Academy members Manuela Velasco and Paco Mir hosted the event from the stage of the Teatro Calderón in Valladolid, accompanied by the institution’s president, Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo.
