Angels who dragged their wings through dark corners, through rooms hourly, consuming their artificial paradises. They play with marked cards, their game lost in advance. Cornered by violence, they have only a few dreams left to spend. Characters who, beyond the prison walls or the limits of the periphery, know that their sentence is their very existence. A destiny that cannot be avoided, even if their hearts wander after love. Even from the most sordid, hope emerges. Flowers from the garbage dump that grow in the night.
With this work, La Zaranda explores the most hostile territory of the everyday, drawing from the picaresque tradition, with its bleak humor, crossing social interpretation in search of a sense of elevation, opening the door to the poetic within the sordid, a sliver of light in the darkness. Reaching other limits where reality and fiction, existence and stage, merge.
The work with which the company will celebrate 48 years on stages around the world. Always understanding Theatre as mystery, risk, and offering to silenced voices.
